Choosing a roofing profile: a short specifier’s guide
Seven profiles across three categories, and the choice is usually settled by three questions: what kind of building, how far between purlins, and how the roof needs to look from the ground.
Start with the building
Residential, commercial and industrial each have their own profile set, and the category normally narrows the list to two or three before any dimension is compared. A house wants a tile form; a warehouse wants rib depth.
Then the span
Trough depth determines how far a sheet can go between supports and how quickly water leaves it. Cover width determines how many sheets the roof needs and where the laps fall. Between them these two figures settle most specifications.
Finish last
Every profile shares the same colour key, so appearance is a free choice rather than a constraint. Full dimensions for all seven are on the technical details page.
